Work on Maui’s major highway completed faster than planned
Maui’s Haleakalā Highway rehabilitation project was completed ahead of schedule using advanced machinery from Wirtgen and Vögele, part of the Wirtgen Group. The project involved replacing a 6.8 km road surface and was initially estimated to take 125 working days. With the new Wirtgen W 210 Fi and W 200 Fi milling machines and a Vögele SUPER 2000-3i paver with a VF 600 screed, the team was able to remove both road surface and base layers in a single pass. This significantly accelerated project completion, allowing for a milling depth of 20 cm in one go and improving efficiency. Local service and training from Wirtgen America enhanced the successful implementation of these machines. The project was carried out by Maui Paving, with smooth transitions and efficient operations facilitated by local dealer Pape, ensuring adequate support and parts delivery. Read more >>

Manitowoc launches another big Potain crane from its China factory
Manitowoc has introduced the Potain MCR 815 luffing jib crane from its factory in Zhangjiagang, China, with a maximum lifting capacity of 64 tons, which is double the capacity of the factory’s previous largest luffing jib crane. This new crane is designed to meet the growing demand for large luffing jib cranes for infrastructure projects and features a 70-meter jib that can be adjusted to a minimal out-of-service radius, making it ideal for congested construction sites. Innovations include a powerful winch capable of line speeds up to 185 meters per minute and a comprehensive jib configuration allowing varied lifting heights and radii. The development of the MCR 815 was guided by Manitowoc's Voice of the Customer process, aiming to enhance productivity for high-profile contractors and rental houses across Asia and emerging markets.
