WOLFFKRAN wins new customer Churchill Retirement Living in the UK and delivers four WOLFF 133 B tower cranes to its Plant Services division

Since the end of last year the Plant Ser- vices division of Churchill Retirement Living is operating four brand new WOLFF 133 B luffing cranes on their job sites across the south of the UK. The British family run firm was the first com- pany worldwide to acquire the latest WOLFFKRAN crane model that was only introduced to the market at last year’s bauma. The WOLFF 133 B is the smallest WOLFF luffing crane and is ideally suited for the demands of space restricted inner-city construction sites due to its compact design featuring a hydraulic luffing mechanism.

Convinced by the design, lifting capacity, quality of the crane and the service support provided by WOLFFKRAN in the UK, Churchill Retire- ment Living’s Plant Services team purchased the hydraulic luffing cranes at the start of 2019 as part of their plan to change Churchill’s tower crane fleet from saddle to luffing jib cranes.

Finding the perfect match

Churchill Retirement Living first lodged its interest in WOLFF cranes in 2018, after a visit to the WOLFFKRAN stand at the Vertikal Days exhi- bition, where the next larger WOLFF 166 B was on display. This was followed by an invitation to WOLFFKRAN’s manufacturing site in Ger- many, where they learned more about the high manufacturing stand- ards while also meeting with existing WOLFFKRAN customers. After a closer look at WOLFFKRAN’s luffing crane portfolio, Churchill decided that the then soon to be launched WOLFF 133 B would actually suit their needs even better than the originally foreseen WOLFF 166 B and subsequently placed their order for four brand new WOLFF 133 B luff- ing cranes at the start of 2019.

WOLFF power helps deliver attractive retirement housing across the UK

The first WOLFF 133 B arrived on the Churchill job site in Chippenham in July 2019, where it was erected and commissioned by Churchill’ own team under the supervision and guidance of WOLFFKRAN within just two days. The other three cranes followed suit and were likewise di- rectly delivered to their respective job sites in Burnham, Hythe and Taunton throughout the course of the year. All four cranes have since been up and running, reliably helping to build attractive retirement apartments across the UK.

“The smooth erection and commissioning of a crane directly delivered to the job site has proved the quality of the product, the level of support offered by WOLFFKRAN and our choice in the right crane supplier”, commented Mark Church, Manager at Churchill Retirement Living Plant Services, upon completion of the official handover of the first WOLFF 133 B in Chippenham.

Julian Dyer, Sales Director at HTC WOLFFKRAN, adds: “We are very grateful for the trust Churchill Retirement Living’s Plant Services team have invested in us and proud to have lived up to their high standards. We wish Churchill safe lifting and are looking forward to developing a long and successful business relationship with each other.”
