New RAPTOR: a new vision of spraying

Seven years after the launch of the RAPTOR, over 500 of which have been sold worldwide, BERTHOUD is updating its range of self-propelled sprayers and is revealing RAPTOR, the second of the name. This new generation has pulled out all the stops. Its style stands out, higher performing with the elegance expected from BERTHOUD. The agility of its new transmission provides more driving pleasure and optimises fuel consumption. New options, such as hydraulic ground clearance, guarantee a high level of customisation and adaptation to each crop type. RAPTOR maintains the width of its range with 9 different models (mid-cab & front-mounted boom - front-cab & rear-mounted boom - mid-cab & rearmounted boom).

Reliability and style created over the years

Since its launch, the RAPTOR has been considered as a robust, reliable and high performance self-propelled machine (working speed), perfectly in keeping with the brand's values and highly popular with the market:

PERFORMANCE – WORKING SPEED

When we invest in equipment, we consult agronomists to define the solution best suited to our constraints and requirements. We opted for the RAPTOR range as we are in an area where the land is particularly difficult, with steep slopes and wet areas where the transmission performance has really proved its worth.

"We are in a region where the average size of the parcels varies between 50 and 70 hectares. We broke the record for productivity on corn spraying this year with 500 hectares sprayed in 8 hours!"

SPRAYING QUALITY

"The RAPTOR's main advantage is its excellent behaviour regardless of the ground conditions, both for the chassis and for the boom itself; this guarantees high working quality.

Each of our sprayers work over 10 000 ha/year, and we are extremely satisfied with the constant level of performace we get from the BERTHOUD RAPTOR range. "

Each model in the new generation RAPTOR range (except for the 2540) is equipped with new features:

The BOSCH REXROTH hydrostatic transmission with which the RAPTOR range is equipped now has ECO functionality as standard. With this functionality, the operator sets a forward speed setpoint for the machine, which automatically adjusts its engine and hydrostatic rate according to the load. This mode may also be combined with the cruise control enabling the operator to predefine a working speed.

Among other new developments, this new feature required an increase in the hydrostatic forward pump capacity.

The 3 speed ranges have also developed to reach 0-18 / 0-25 and 0-40kph. This final speed range used on the road is reached at an engine rate of 1700-1800 rpm. This new transmission enables fuel consumption to be optimised and provides the operator with more flexible use and comfort.

These developments come with a new monitor to group all the vehicle's information together (speed, engine, rate, variable hydraulic track control, and so on.). It is combined with a new armrest that can be adjusted electrically and a new pivoting High Comfort seat as standard, with automatic adaptation to the driver's weight, heating and ventilation.

The range is equipped with DEUTZ Tier 3B engines.

In addition to these new features across the whole range (mid-cab front/rear-mounted boom/front cab), other features will be exclusively reserved for the mid-cab range (front or rear-mounted boom).

A dynamic and distinctive design where nothing has been left to chance

Supported by these qualities, BERTHOUD's research office has set itself the objective of increasing the model's attractiveness and affirmation by making it even more "BERTHOUD" customised and incisive. The bonnet takes the very essence of the Brand's design with a thoughtful and dynamic style and a personalised front with its large horizontal BERTHOUD logo on the grille.

The new bonnet is also combined with new hydraulic manual operating kinematics, enabling optimised access to the engine for maintenance. Two LED strips on each side of the inside of the bonnet's interior enable the area to be lit up at night.

A quality and stripped-down interior based on comfort, working ergonomy and operator safety

The new central cab range will be available with a new ROPS (Roll Over Protection structure) approved cab that meets Category 4 air filtration requirements for optimum user safety.

Unlimited customisation possibilities

The new RAPTOR also improves its adaptation to crop types since in addition to the optional variable hydraulic track (except on the 2540) it now has optional hydraulic ground clearance on the 4,200 and 5,200-litre central cab version with 1.25 to 1.8m clearance (availability date to be confirmed).
