Validated hydraulic fluids increase the service life of hydraulics

Hydraulic fluids that successfully pass Bosch Rexroth's neutral rating process will now be made available in a fluid rating list.

Bosch Rexroth makes hydraulic fluids that successfully pass the neutral rating process available in a fluid rating list

Significantly increased power density as a result of higher operating pressures, rotational speeds, oil circulation rates and temperatures: Hydraulic performance has greatly increased again in the past years. This also places higher requirements on the hydraulic fluids used, which have a decisive influence on the wear properties of hydraulic components, among other things. Bosch Rexroth therefore offers a neutral rating process that realistically reflects these current requirements. Hydraulic fluids that successfully pass this process will now be listed in Bosch Rexroth's fluid rating list .

The minimum requirements for hydraulic fluids are defined in the relevant standards DIN 51524, ISO 15380 and ISO 12922. However, they do not sufficiently reflect the technical developments in high-performance hydraulics and the suitability of new hydraulic fluids and additives.

With a new, scientifically standardized rating process, Bosch Rexroth tests the behavior of fluids and the interaction with the key components pump and motor under realistic operating conditions. In the course of this process, the technical characteristics of the fluids are checked for plausibility and conformity, among other things. A practical pump and motor test and a specific seal test subject the fluids to high pressures in different cycles over several hundred operating hours, both at high temperatures and at low viscosities. The rating process, which is described in the Rexroth data sheet no. 90235, far exceeds the minimum requirements of the relevant fluid standards and is suited to all mineral-oil-based hydraulic fluids, environmentally acceptable fluids, as well as fire-resistant hydraulic fluids. If a fluid fulfills all the requirements, it is then accepted into Bosch Rexroth's new fluid rating list 90245, which replaces the previous market overviews 90220-01 and 90221-01.

Lubricant and additive manufacturers can have the performance of their hydraulic fluids rated neutrally with this process, whatever the application. On request, Bosch Rexroth can also offer companies an RFT-APU-CL fluid test bench, which can be used for their own developmental work, for example. The process helps machine manufacturers and operators lower the maintenance and standstill costs of their machines and systems and increase operational reliability.
